Health and social care is an organisation where people with disabilities get admitted in order to receive services through the staff members of the firm. In such type of health and social care firms, employees or the staff members play most significant role because they have to understand and cure problems of their respective patients. However, in the report ABC is the health and social care firm where numbers of employees have been employed. They are responsible for handling people suffering from any condition. This report will explain various roles and responsibilities acquired by the employees working in health and social care.
In the mentioned health and social care firm, there are number of employees who are providing their services through their own skills and abilities. However, I am one of the employee working in this firm since 3 three years and delivering services to every individual who have been visited here for treatment (Andrews and Russell, 2012). However, there are number of roles and responsibilities that are very crucial to be possessed by employees working in this health and social care organisation. Few of them have been explained below:
Apart from patients the first and foremost responsibility of employees in health and social care is take care of himself or herself. It is because, if they will be fit tan only it is possible to treat someone else.
Another crucial role of employees is to not to wear any kind of jewellery or ornament during operating any machinery item. This thing is to be well taken care of because even a minor mistake can also lead to hazardous situation.
Regarding female employee, it is very important for them to tie their long hairs because it is very dangerous if their hair get caught in machinery. In order to avoid this situation, it is advisable for them to wear a scarf.
It is the most important responsibility of staff members to take reasonable care of people. In other words, they must not handle responsibility to somebody else. It is a high risk to handover own responsibility to another co-worker (Dhiman, 2012).
Employees must have to report all the injuries, strains and illness to their employers. In return, their employers can provide ideal ways to cure those particular problems or injuries. Health and social care firms provides and health and safety tool kits to their members. In this context, employees must not make misuse of any of the property given by their employers. Whenever, staff members are facing any problem such as pregnancy, injury or any other physical problem, it is necessary for them to contact their employers so they can take appropriate actions. If employees do not share their problems to superiors, it may be possible that they get suspended.
In order to provide services in the form of treatment, I have defined some of the objectives for myself for gaining betterment in level of service. Though I have good understanding of my patients but many a time I realise that still there is requirement of some more knowledge to improve myself. There are number of patients whose nature is of very complex and at that time, it becomes necessary for me to handle them. With rare innovation in technical operations, I face difficulties in operating new tools and equipments (Feichtner, 2001). Therefore, it is very crucial for me to secure my future by keeping myself busy in all these things.
Whenever I receive complex cases to solve, I take help through books and journals but every time it is not possible for me to go through the same process. In this kind of situations, it becomes necessary not only for me but for every individual who is indulged in this type of services. Apart from all these things, another most important requirement for me is to have good communication skills. In every health and social care firm, communication is the most important necessity because it is the only way through which problems of patients can be identified. I need to focus on my way or method of communicating with others in health and social care.
With thorough analysis of my own performance, it has been identified that I am weak in communicating with people or patients existing the health care (Griffin and Annulis, 2013). I will recommend myself to approach for proper communicating training program through which I can develop my skills in talking with my clients. I can also improve my way of communicating through reading books and journals. Backwardness in communication is the only major factor responsible for hindering my performance. Another weakness I have identified in myself is, I am not able to solve issues of people in swift manner. I need some time to recognize their actual problem and than only I can cure them. I also need to get good knowledge about leadership skills because I if possess good leadership style, I can keep more appropriate control on my people. Good leadership skills help to manage and guide patients in best possible manner. However, leadership skills can be acquired by observing behaviour of my senior and top level managers. Through copying their nature and way of communication, I can also practice the same for developing myself. Through attending different seminars, I can improve my leadership skills i]n best possible manner.
For the purpose of improving quality of performance, various motivational techniques can be used. However, motivation is the method or process of providing enthusiasm and enforcement to staff members for getting work done through them in most appropriate manner. For the purpose of bringing improvement in employees skills and quality of performance, different kind of motivational techniques can be used through which their quality of service can be enhanced and user can also get good satisfaction through their improved services (Haasler, 2013). In order to motivate employees, there are some tricks through which the can be empowered to work more enthusiastically. Appropriate payment of salary in timely manner, good working conditions all the time, excellent communication process for smooth flow of information and proper shift timing are some of the best ways in which employees in a health and social care can be motivated in well desired manner. There are some other factors also which have motivated me to work even more hard. All these things have relay helped me to generate good skills and power so that I can help others effectively. My main focus is to improve my communicating and by implicating good technological resources, the firm has motivated me or has given me golden opportunity to enhance my skills in desired manner.
In the health and social care organisation, there are number of problems faced by staff members. But simultaneously, in order to solve those problems, number of solutions are also available through the help of which problems can be solved effectively. One of the major problem can be seen in context of employees, who are totally dissatisfied with the time schedule of their working. Due to their over timing, their performance has been lowered down and they are not able to give their full strength in their duties. Due to high pressure of work, employees are losing their strength and users are also losing trust from them (Lin, 2001). Therefore, it has become very crucial for the firm to remove prevent this problem as early as possible in order to empower employees for their original strength. However, the easy way to sort out this problem can be done through implementing different motivating techniques in the health and social care premises.
Another most effective motivating factor is rewarding employees on the basis of their performance. This is the only thing through which employees can motivate themselves in lieu of achieving rewards for their better services. Along with that, co-ordination between all the employees should be developed in order to increase diversity in the firm and simultaneously every staff member can understand each other's culture easily. As a result, problems of the organisation can be solved in most effective manner. This particular practice can be easily applied in the firm so that problems can be solved in most effective manner.
Communication is the only way through employees or staff members of the firm can express or convey their message to top level management as well as lower level management. It is very crucial to have sound communication between employees of health and social care because it provides base for powerful implementation of strategies and aids in achieving objectives in best possible manner (Miller, Biggart and Newton, 2013). Appropriate communication process can be used differently at levels of health and social care. Regarding top level management, effective communication is necessary for dealing about implementation of new tools and techniques in the firm and simultaneously making decisions regarding future course of actions. In other words, communication helps top level management to assign necessary information to all professionals working in the firm about installation of new machinery. Emails, telecom and open meetings are some of the ways in which top level management can transfer information to professionals and other departmental heads. Apart from that, all nurses who are also involved in providing services in health and social care firm are responsible for processing information to their respective doctors and other professionals so that proper treatment can be given to their patients. However, they can transmit all this information through the help of telephones.
There are different time management strategies that can be sussed in health care and they all can help the management of healthcare to treat patients in most appropriate manner. Some of the time management strategies that can be used in health and social care are-
Start with easy tasks- It is one of the best strategies that can help the healthcare workers to prioritise work in most appropriate manner (Panagiotakopoulos, 2012). By using this skill, workers can start finishing the work with smaller tasks so that later on proper attentions can be given to important tasks. It will help the employees to finish all their tasks early because important work is less but small work is always more. So doing small work will allow worker to pay proper attention to important work which is very important in health care setting.
Not to do multi tasking- It is one of the biggest myth among workers like if they will do multi tasking then they will be able to do more work. Because of this strategy both the works are not done in appropriate manner and it also takes more time. If the workers will focus on each task separately and individually, not only the effectiveness of work will increase but it will also help these people to finish task in early time.
Avoid procrastinating- There may be time when employees ate health care setting loses interest with job because of the tasks. In order to manage time in health care setting, workers should do all the unpleasant tasks at the beginning so that proper attention can be given to more engaging work. Bigger tasks can be divided into smaller ones as it will help the time for workers (Suneela, 2014).
All these time management strategies are important it helps the workers at heath care to manage time, prioritise workload and many other things which are very important in terms of taking care for patients.
There are different types of roles that are played by the workers of health care unit and it can also be explained in terms of Belbin’s team role theory because this theory has depicted all the roles in appropriate manner that can help any organization to fulfil all their roles in most effective manner-
Plant- Role of these people in a team is to be highly creative and good at solving problems by identifying unique solutions.
Monitor evaluator- Role of these people is to provide a logical eye, make good judge judgements and to provide good options to team in effective manner.
Coordinators- These people provide focus on team objectives and delegate work to team members in appropriate manner.
Resource Investigators- These people provide inside knowledge and makes sure that idea of team is known to everyone.
Implementers- These people put plan into practical and try to carry it out in efficient manner.
Complete finisher- Their work is to analyze the errors in the work of team and remove them in most suitable manner (Trought, 2012).
Team workers- These people try to maintain good environment in team by identifying the work required and completing it on behalf of team.
Shapers- These people provide motivation to team members and tell them to not to lose focus in appropriate manner.
Specialists- These people have in depth knowledge of all work so they provide proper assistance to team by increasing the quality of work.
Team dynamics can be defined as the different forces which are unconscious, psychological, etc but they all influence the direction of team’s behaviour and performance. Team dynamics are very good in health and social care setting because they improve the overall performance of team and get the best out of each and every team member in most appropriate manner. There are different type’s team working at workplace in which some are formal, informal, etc. All these people have different goals and it is very important for an organization to understand the roles of all of these and give them the direction to work in most appropriate manner. Formal groups are made for the work that is to be done in company and informal groups are made so that good and comfortable environment can be enjoyed by workers (Venkateswarlu, 2012).
Process of group dynamics start with forming stage which is characterized by members seeking either work assignment or other benefits like status,, affiliation, etc.Next stage is called as storming in which team members seek out familiar individuals and began sharing and working. Third stage is called as norming in which group members start taking responsibility. In fourth stage that is performing, people see themselves as a part of group and start getting involved appropriately. In whatever the task has been taken gets completed and in the last stage that is adjourning, team gets shuffled again
There are number of alternative ways through which tasks can be completed and tasks can be completed quickly. Some of them have been explained below:
Start with very small target:- when firm set small targets, it becomes easy to succeed over them and confidence level rises. It is very crucial to have consistent achievement of tasks.
Looking forward for success after completion:- The firm should not stop their consistency level after achievement of objectives but they should look forward for further development of the firm it indicates that there is an utter need for regular inspection of firm’s policies and regulations (Dolmans, 2001).
Rewards: - It is another technique through which performance can be enhanced. Here, people or staff member should be provided adequate rewards so that they can get highly motivated in lieu of achieving rewards.
Finding motivational switch: - finding motivational switch means finding the key area through which staff members can be motivated easily.
In order to solve problem, there are number of steps that can be followed. Some of them have been explained below:
Define the problem: - It is the very first step which includes defining the problem. Numbers of meetings are conducted in order to take a particular decision. In the health and social care firm, employees or staff members are free to share their problems and knowledge to each other and it is very crucial to find out their problems.
Generate alternative solutions: - After analyzing of problem, it becomes necessary for the firm to create alternative solutions for the problem. Not only a single alternative is generated but number of alternatives is founded in order to reach final conclusion (Lemanski, 2011).
Evaluate and select alternative: - Among all the alternatives, it is very important for the health and social care firm to evaluate the best alternative. Selecting the best alternative helps the firm to achieve right path and attain their goals as early as possible.
Implement and follow up: - The last step involves following up the selected alternative. It is very crucial to select the best alternative for achievement of goals.
In order to resolve the problem, management of the firm first needs to identify the problem because without understating problem, it is not possible for the firm to reach a final conclusion. Therefore, following steps are necessary to be taken. Therefore slowing steps must followed:

There has been a great impact on business after implementing effective strategy; it becomes very significant on people working in the organisation. Performance of the firm gets improved in outstanding manner. There has been seen a great impact on the firm and positivity can be observed in employees of the firm (Mohamed, 2010). They are making more contribution with improved efficiency and providing their best level support to the firm. It indicates that effective decision making helps the firm to move in the right path and improvement can be done in excellent manner. Thus it has been ascertained that appropriate alternatives are very crucial for the firm to fulfil objectives. Improved decision making helps the firm to achieve their desired goals in best possible way. In the health and social care, staff members are required to make good contribution through their improved skills and regular meetings are very compulsory to have continued check on firms operations and policies.
Employability skills are very important to work in health and social care because if these skills are not available then nothing can be done at work at appropriate manner. There are set of problems and issues that have to face by individuals and all these can be solved with effective strategies like time management, group dynamics, etc. If proper employability skills are developed, then employees can perform in most appropriate manner.
